Organization
The BMT CTN is funded through two divisions at the National Institutes of Health: The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI); and, The National Cancer Institute (NCI). The BMT CTN Data Coordinating Center (DCC) maintains continuity of operations and facilitates effective communications. The DCC effort is a collaboration between:
- Center for International Blood and Marrow Transplant Research (CIBMTR)
- National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP)
- The EMMES Corporation (EMMES)
The BMT CTN Steering Committee is responsible for the design, execution, and analysis of all Network studies. Committee members formulate and implement all policy decisions, and are responsible for the daily operation of all studies. The Steering Committee consists of:
- Principal Investigators from Core Clinical Centers (including the Chair and immediate past-Chair)
- NHLBI and NCI Project Officers (one representative from each)
- Representatives from the DCC
There are Core Clinical Centers (some of which are consortia of two or more centers) with cooperative agreements from the NHLBI and NCI to participate in the BMT CTN. Additional affiliate centers may also participate in BMT CTN trials through subcontracts with the DCC.
Technical Committees address specific areas of Network activity. The Steering Committee Chair appoints Committee chairpersons.
