National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute
Sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI)

The objective of the Specialized Centers for Cell-based Therapy for Heart, Lung, and Blood Diseases is to stimulate clinically relevant, multidisciplinary collaborations leading to clinical and basic science research efforts on important public health problems for individuals with heart, lung, and blood disease. Recent advances in the understanding of cell biology, transplantation of autologous and allogeneic cells for the treatment of disease, the development of cellular and molecular imaging tools and markers, and the management of immune reconstitution after transplantation offer potential novel approaches to clinical problems in heart, lung, blood systems, and sleep disorders.

This project has been funded in whole or in part with Federal funds from the NHLBI, NIH under Contract Number 1 U54 HL081021-01.
